      Bazooka's 63 C-10 Kustom

      07-08-2008

Its a 63 Chevy C-10. Shortbed fleetside with big window cab. The 350 sbc and 700R4 trans were donated from a 85 Chevy 1/2 ton. The same truck also donated its complete front crossmember along with it's power brakes/steering. The engine is all stock. Truck exhales thru dual flowmaster exhaust.

From what I hear the truck used to be a city truck for the city of Atwater, Ca..

My plans are to give it a 60's custom look... big changes are comming. Follow along if you like..

Dude, that thing is actually pretty bad ass! Yep, it is the same body style as my buds 66. That is gonna be sick with a 60's theme man! Thanks for the pics, that's good stuff, people will love it. Did you get it in that condition?

This was my first project on the truck. installing a new summit aluminum radiator (SUM-380324) Sorry no before pictures this time. This radiator fits extremly well. Had to modify the angle of lower radiator hose outlet. Had that welded locally. The fan was making contact.. Friend of mine modified a stock upper bracket to work with the new radiator.

Well here ya go. My first small update.

      Small update..

Got my new wheels. 15x6 bare Smoothies. I cleaned them with Acetone and sprayed them with Duplicolor high temp gloss black engine paint. Paint works pretty good for this. Second time I have used it on a set of wheels. Im satisfied with how it came out.

I am going to get some of those short bullet center caps for the wheels for that vintage look I'm going for..

Tires are 205/75/15 tires with thin whites.. Will get them mounted this coming week probably.

Got the wheels and tires mounted today.. Haven't orderd the center caps yet cause I wanted to order them at the same time I order my drop spindles (save shipping $) and I needed to measure my rotors while I had the wheels off. I am going to be using the DJM 3" spindles. My rotors are the 1.25" units so I can order the cheaper set.. They are $50 cheaper then the ones for the 1.0" rotors.. Whoever lowered this truck just cut the springs like a mad man with stock spindles and there is huge camber and a very bouncy ride.. thats all going to be fixed..

Next on the agenda is to get this puppy laying on the pavement..

I think it will look much better when I get the caps on there and sitting level at ride height..

Ok guys, next step in my project is done. The new engine is installed and runs like a freakin champ.

It's a mild 350 sbc. .040 over with a RV cam. Sounds really good very smooth with a very subtle performace idle. Everything under the hood is now new/rebuilt. Feels nice to have a reliable Engine. The difference is night and day the old engine was pretty tired.

Anyway here's some pictures.. We all like pictures.. I plan to dress up the engine with some cal customs finned valve covers and a chrome louvered Air Cleaner a little later..

Here's a before shot of the old tired engine and messy engine compartment..

Here's my dirty old engine out on the ground.

Here's the new engine and clean engine compartment.

Right now the truck is at Ava Mae Hot Rods In fresno Ca getting a full air ride system installed.

The truck will lay flat frame via SD's raised crossmember in front and custom built 4 link out back. I also picked up (4) Airlift Dominator 2600 bags, Viair 480 Dual pack, and SMC 3/8 lines.. ect.. ect..

Here is a photoshop of how my truck should look once I get it home from the shop. I havent decided what my plans are for body/paint and interior..

couple of interior shots before I change anything.. Going to replace the stock gauges with a painted gauge panel and autometer traditional gauges. Might change the steering wheel to something more appropriate for the look im going for... I also want to find a stock seat if Possible..Might put in a floor shifter...Nothing set in stone just ideas..

thought I'd post some pics of some goodies..plus I didnt have any pics on this page and Joe says thats not allowed I'm hoping alot gets done on the truck in the next 2 - 3 weeks...
I got myself a new wiring harness from Rebel Wire.

I also picked up a gauge harness from them as well..

Along with the above electrical stuff I bought a "New System" from MAD Electrical Catalog to finish off my complete new electrical system.. This is a very good setup

A set of Autometer traditional chrome gauges and a home made gauge panel. I'm going to paint that white to match my interior for now.. I will also be running a chrome column mounted tach for that 60s look im going for..I'm thinking about picking up a Mooneyes white steering wheel as well.
