the stock brackets were being cut off the rearend. The pinion yoke was pointing down towards the ground and water was leaking out!! Crap! The guy doing the work pulled off the cover it was nasty inside real rusty and the gear oil looked like mud. The ring and pinion had grooves wore into them. The guy doing the work said he has never seen one that looked that bad. After looking it over he found that the stock vent setup had been removed at somepoint so there was just a open hole. Thats how the water got in..

Sooooo I had to spend another $300 bucks at summit..

I have gotten some work done as you can see from the posts above. Still have a bit of work to do. I think I may change the wheels again too..

Here is the Thorbecke Bros. Raised Crossmember kit that Ava Mae Hot Rods will be installing on the truck. The crossmember bolts in just like the stock unit it replaces. it narrows the track width a total of 2.25 inches for enhanced steering radius and raises the front suspension 3 inches. This means there is no reason to “Z” the frame rails in order to lay out flat and provides much better ground clearance. Also ditches all the factory steering components and upgrades to a 79-93 Mustang power or manual Rack and Pinion (I went with a power unit). Since the suspension is raised 3 inches and I will be running 3 inch drop spindles the front suspension will maintain factory suspension geometry at ride height but will be lowered a total of 6 inches.
