Yes another problem with the ranger
So today I started up my truck and I had an issue. The starter wasn't disengaging. I started it up, and then turned off the truck when I noticed something was wrong. Took the key out of the ignition, and the truck was still trying to start AFTER I took the keys out of the ignition. So I hurried up and disconnected the negative from my battery. I just replaced the cylinoid yesterday afternoon. Any ideas why it's doing this? It happened once before but it was a long time ago I don't remember what the problem was

if it ever gets low voltage to the solenoid it will fry the contacts and stick them together causing the problem you discribe.

sounds like it,you need to do some simple voltage drop test to verify if you have a problem in a connection or cable.

How would I perform a voltage drop test?

I was curious if it would have done it again so I fired up my truck today and everything was fine. That's a little odd don't you think?
