My old stomping grounds, up to the eastof Fresno near shaver lake are some great 4wheel drive trails. Bald mountain is a good one plus when you get to the top there's a badass view of shaverlake and you can even see Fresno if your up there at night. But yeah look online at trailhead entrances for bald mountain mirror lake is a a good one even blue canyon is very nice. Another one is Jose basin just passed auberry. I used to have a 86 Toyota 4 runner that would go everywhere. My old buddies all have an 85 or older yota pickup with the marlin crawler setups.

The problem I've seen with St. Johns is you get run out by the law right? I like the trails up in the hills cause they are legal and alot more fun. Plus there are alot more obstacles to really put your rig to the test. Heres a site with some helpful info. Sierra National Forest - Recreation, Off-highway Vehicles
