      New server fund?

Okay, I've talked with a few other Cen-Cal members about some ideas I've been toying with and some code I've been testing. I'd really like to blow the site up and get into articles and news, and possibly an online store through our local sponsors. I've been testing on our current server but running this site and the test setup is pretty much overloading it, lol. It's only because of the multiple databases everything is tied to that is causing high server load. I'd recommend on the new setup getting a new server. Would like to start hosting videos and uploading live streams to the site for friday night test and tunes, events, etc. so storage will be an issue as to where it isn't currently so... Here's a rough breakdown.

      Intel Quad core
4GB memory (would recommend for $100 more)
      1TB hard drive

That should be able to take us quite a ways for $625. $725 with 8 gigs of memory. This would give me an opportunity to actively work on the new server without affecting our current site and database. I will then have to down the old server, back up the database and import all users/information onto the new server. If there is a failure or problem, at least we will have the "old" server to run as backup while I work on the "new" one. What do you guys think, can we raise that kind of $?

      Shoot me some ideas!

Agreed - And I'm still waiting to hear back from you on server specs. If you wanted, I'm sure if we could get enough funding, I could virtual machine you a CS server... >=) Hosted right on the fiber line!

A weekly 50/50 raffle/drawing, the site gets 50% and the winner gets the other 50%!

That'd be sick, I'm sure we can raise it somehow. Site would be SICK with the new version. Sucks that I've gotten this one so chill now I'm comfortable with it, it's just lacking news/articles and some functionality I just can't add with the way it's setup now.

I'm here to help if needed, I can get a few more sponsors as well. PM me some sponsor rates and I'll see what I can do!

Car washes, BBQ's, are also easy money if organized correctly...

I know we talked about this the other night at A&W Tony. . . Car Show! Entry fee goes to a couple trophy's or plaques the rest goes to the site/club!

I also know of a place that will host it!

      Question

Hell.. we put together a Food/Toy drive in about 2 weeks and it did real good even with shitty weather. I'm sure with everyone putting their heads together we can do this.
