Went to take the project out for a burn out the other day and heard what I thought was an exhaust leak so it stayed home... Today I went to work on it and changed out what I thought were leaky header gaskets, but to my dismay, the sound was still there. So, I went through each of the plug wires that I had recently changed out from stcok wires, to custom build your own to length, racing wires. I thought that maybe I had not gotten a good connection on one of them, but after all that, the sound was still there. Next, I decided to pull the valve cover; which is what I probably should have done first. The number eight cylinder valve train had serious problems. The exhaust valve rocker arm stud had broken off at the tip and let the poly locker, rocker arm and pushrod fly loose. The intake valve assembly also had a complete melt down and bent and sheared the tip off the pushrod causing it to make deep scratches into the rocker arm. As far as I can tell, it is faulted to the pre-assembled aluminum heads I got from procomp. The rocker stud sheared off causing all kinds of bull sh**. Bummed and dealing with some minor setbacks in the build.....
