Wow this takes me back to my younger days,i had a 79 mitts d50 that i swapped a small block mopar into, fun little truck, minis with v8s turn heads forsure, stick witht he build as im sure you will do fine with it,and if ya need any advise on the 5.0 ive owned like 6 fox bodys, and have 3 blue ovals currently.my little d50 ran a best time of 10.80 at 125 back in the late 90s.I miss the little guy actually,I still have it but no motor or trans as it just sits.

Oh dang. That's sweet Nate. Yeah I'm having trouble with the electrical right now. I got stranded at target, then my buddy came and jumped me, it was running for about a minute then shut off. So the alternator wasn't charging the battery. It's completely dead now. I got my alternator tested and it ran at 14.5 volts so it's fine. The guys at kragens said it could be my volt regulator so I got a new one but I haven't installed it yet because there's no refund. Idk what else could be the problem tho besides that. My truck runs constant on 10 volts and before it's started it's a 11. Hopefully I can figure it out today so I can take it tomorrow

Are you using the mustang alternator or the ranger unit?If its the ranger it is external and could possibly have a bad regulator,if your using the stang unit its internal regulated.Either way you should upgrade to a 3g 130 amp unit and never have another alternator issue. Its a easy upgrade, ive got the alternator and the plug and can walk you threw the install.

i believe its just the stock 65 amp alt. no clue what year engine it is but it has an external regulator. assuming that since the ground wasnt hooked up thats why the battery wasnt charging but whats with the 10 volts when the truck is on? i bought a brand new regulator but i havent put it on yet because i want to be sure thats the problem since i cant take the part back once installed. ive also been told it could be an electrical problem, and seeing how some of the stuff is wired up it wouldnt surprise me. then again i have no idea what im looking for. in the future im going to get poppers and auto windows and locks an alarm and a full system but i was told id be good with 100 amp alt i dont need anything bigger. plus since im still in hs i dont have a job and the only income i get is lunch money.
